I got this book for my 15 year old, who loves drawing and took some fashion designer courses.
I though I would get this book for her as it markets itself as an inspiration for fashionistas of all ages. When it has arrived I have discovered that it was just a coloring book designed for a much younger crowd.
I gave it to my daughter anyway. She has looked surprised, in not a good way, but has thanked me just to be polite. The book has been hidden away at her room ever since.
To be fair, I am sure that an 8-10 year old who likes fashion magazines would be thrilled to play with it.

This is a great book, but it would not entertain any 9YO girl I know for long. If you have a 4-8 year old, she would find this book very cool. This is like a giant coloring book and my kids, nieces, nephews and friends all outgrew coloring books by 8.
That being said, this would be an extremely fun book for a little girl. It’s filled with big, thick-lined, coloring book drawings to inspire the young fashion designer. For example, one page there is a fanciful shoe to color and the next page is blank with instructions to design your own. There are fingernails, dresses, hats, tights, shirts, etc for the young girl to color and space to design her own. There are printed pattern pages to cut out and use however she likes. THere’s sewing advice, instructions for pom pom making and pictures to finish.
There are some fashion and historical “notes”, but more along the lines of “corset 1884″ rather than actual information. Which is cute – for younger girls.
It is nice that the pictures to color are very generic and simplistically drawn. There’s no marketing of brands or certain fashions, so the doors of creativity are left open.
I was disappointed that the book was for a much younger age group than I anticipated, but most 6YO girls would happily spend hours coloring in this book.

This book was a coloring book of hand drawn pictures for young children who might enjoy expressing their artistic vision in fashion. There is an entire page of finger nails that you can draw designs onto for example. For the fashion obsessed, this could be a really nice book for children in their tween years. Like any coloring book, probably many pages will be skipped over, and some pages might be selected as favorites. Some of the pages were really well done, some looked like less effort were put into them. I thought the book drawings were a little disappointing. They had a somewhat rough sketchy feel to them, however, that could have been the intention, rather than to have a traditional fashion book with perfectly drawn lines etc. It does look hand made in that sense, perhaps making it more inviting to a young child?

A wonderful, unique book that would be the perfect gift for a young, budding fashion designer. A book that the “fashionista” or “fashion diva” would love. High end fashion. This is not just your run of the mill fashion book or coloring book. This is a unique book of the best in the fashion world for anyone to apply their love of fashion to.
Put this on your gift list for that special someone who loves fashion.
Loved it. Actually, this is headed to a young fashionista as a gift, but I had a great time going page by page. I hate to part with it. Not just for kids.
